Culturally Rooted,
Community-Centered Care

Soonats'ooneh

Soonats’ooneh, formerly Central Interior Native Health Society (CINHS), is a community health centre dedicated to serving the unique health care needs of Indigenous peoples. While serving primarily Dakelh and Sekani peoples on the ancestral lands and unceded territory of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, Soonats’ooneh also welcomes other Indigenous peoples – ‘Uyoo ne Dakelh into the centre.

Ts’uhoont’i unjan Lheidli T’enneh bu keyoh tse tsu whut’i utsut’en inkez nuwhutsulye’. Tubeh nenachailya

At Soonats’ooneh we raise our hands with gratitude and respect to honour the peoples on the confluence of the two rivers for stewarding these lands since time immemorial. We are humbled to serve the Dakelh peoples and all Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit & Métis) on the ancestral lands and unceded territories of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.

Healing Together

While honouring Indigenous ways of being, we provide primary health care and specialty/specialist care in addition to Indigenous approaches to health & wellness, all while addressing the social and cultural determinants of health.  With a team of qualified professionals, cultural knowledge practitioners, peers, and people with lived and living experience, we are committed to decolonizing and indigenizing our mindsets and health care practices.

Soonats’ooneh eliminates barriers by providing cultural, trauma and violence responsive care, following a harm reduction philosophy.  Soonats’ooneh, acknowledges the ongoing impacts of colonization, genocide and assimilation experienced by our Indigenous clients. We remain at the forefront of responding to the mental health crisis, unregulated drug supply, the housing crisis, and supporting those living with or at risk of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV).
